I think about it for some time about me to get a iPad Pro 2019 if it appears. I recently bought a 13-inch MacBook Pro 2017 Standard Edition. I would then sell it for a iPad Pro. I really only use it for writing, surfing or watching shows like Netflix. Would you recommend it to me? And if so under what circumstances?
So if you use your device only for the mentioned things that seems to make sense, but remember that some things are not possible with the iPad (for example, desktop office)
If you only use your device for the mentioned purposes, a MBP 2017 is pretty over the top!
I would not recommend the new iPad Pro, too expensive, too much power, you do not need that! Why not the 2017 iPad Pro? Maybe even needed? The environment is happy too! That should be enough for your purposes, and you still have a lot of money left over after you sell your MacBook for a good price.
I'm using my 2010 MBP for much more demanding stuff than you, and it's still enough, I even have the latest MacOS with a little hack.
It does not always have to be the newest!
Apart from the fact that the iPad Pro is totally overpowered and an iPad 2019 would be enough for that, nevertheless makes the MacBook much more sense. On the iPad, you can't tap it properly and you always have to hold on to it. There's no reasonable working attitude that you can take to work longer on the iPad. The operation with the touchscreen is much more cumbersome and slower than with the mouse. The software is much more limited.
