Should you rather buy a series on NETFLIX or as DVD or Blu-ray?

From the quality ago?

Does Netflix not broadcast in HD?

No

The order in the quality would be m.M. To:

DVD Netflix BluRay.

The bitrate at Netflix is not even in the range of a clean BluRay even at 4K, so - assuming the right TV - BluRay is still the best option.

A normal BluRay in FullHD looks better on my 65 "OLED than a 4K Netflix series.

Ma

I mean, is not a blu-ray better?

Ma

So streaming services have a higher quality than DVD s?

No

Yeah, but the resolution is much higher. A PAL DVD has only 720x576 points. Even a HD ready series is already at 1280x720. Full HD or even 4K is immensely higher than the number of pixels.

A normal DVD is the size of my TV still more or less soggy.

4K Netflix has 25mbit. A BluRay in peak 50mbit data rate.

Blu Ray is also HD… From there. If you have at least New 16er line, there should be no differences.

Ma

So DVDs are not worthwhile anymore? Some series on DVD you get for little money

No

Not Qualitatively. My wife is watching Sex and the City on DVD, it looks disgusting in quality. Unfortunately, it does not exist as BluRay.

By contrast, HDTV is really a feast for the eyes.

This can't be answered on a flat-rate basis, as it varies from case to case.

The maximum possible quality of the pure transmission is the lowest for DVD, as limited to Full HD, and about the same for Netflix and Blue-ray.

The difference between Netflix and Blue-ray is that Netflix sends with a better compression (H.265) and lower bitrate, while Blue-Ray uses the old H.264 and higher bitrate.

In practice, therefore, should be more crucial whether the devices are supported, and whether the series is ever present in 4K.

de

It does not matter anyway with Full HD. There are only differences at 4K.

The quality I have nothing to complain about Netflix. Even the 4k material does not look bad. Personally, I would do a series… Let's take Game of Thrones as an example… Better buy Blu-ray because the availability of movies and series is limited. Of course, own productions of Netflix are always available and remain in the range, so to speak. Pure of the quality are of course Blu-ray and Co. Always the better choice. The UHD discs are just too expensive for me although the prices for the players go down significantly. I read many reviews and not infrequently cuts the UHD worse than the Blu-ray. Just to give you an example… The movie Solo got a very bad rating as UHD. The Blu-ray is sufficient for me, especially since my UHD TV (65 inches) all movies up to 4k. For example AVATAR looks really brilliant. You can go very close to the picture and do not recognize any pixel structure.

Do you have to watch the series more often, to collect them: buy BlueRay

If enough: Netflix, Prime whatever…

Qualitatively there's no difference up to 4K or you see the if only on very large screens.
