For something like that you should use a real computer, if you want macOS a Macbook.
I don't study and I still go to school, but I have the iPad Air 3 with 256GB, think it's very good and really enjoy working with it😊 It costs around 689 euro on Amazon.

Would 64 be enough for you?
How do you want to write down properly on a tablet? A laptop is much more suitable for that.
64 is very little. I agree with the recommendation.
Why not an iPad?
If you only use the iPad for e.g. School might use. But also use it privately and with Apple the disadvantage is that you can't insert an SD card. Would rather recommend 256GB.
