Cable or DSL at 100 Mbit line, what is more useful?

Go next month in the city and logically need internet, just wanted to know what is more useful with a 100 Mbit line, cable or DSL?

At the moment I have cable 400 Mbit and in the evening it will be more unstable, at least there was a time where it was strong in the streaming of Netflix and Twitch noticeable, meanwhile I had the problem rather less.

How stable is DSL there really? At that time Telekom had DSL Internet and that was pure hell.

These are the only offers I could find in my region:

Honestly, I would almost take Vodafone again because the connection went within 1-2 days and a technician was immediately there in case of problems.

Telekom and 1und1 divorce anyway, because 50 Mbit is just too slow and 100 Mbit too, but not otherwise.

50MBit too slow I have since 2 days only ne 40MBit line man oh man.

But now to the data, Via a cable as far as I'm informed higher bandwidths are possible thus it should be better according to the fair use principle to possess a cable line.

So with me in Austria one gets by DSL not more than 50MBit / s, then one must take cable.

Basically, there's always one provider for each region of the network expansion stems and others who may then use their technology after a blocking period of 1-2 years.

Is EWE the local utility? Then probably have expanded the glass fiber. The Telekom still uses their own copper networks, so you can only offer 50, so I would read it. O2 definitely has no own networks.

If possible, I would always choose a provider who has its own network - because if there are problems then you are faster here, as if you have a provider who in turn has to report a malfunction in the network operator. And if something has to be exchanged on the cable, this can only be done by the respective network operator.

Price / performance Vodafone would be the best choice in this list.

Do you already know your future neighbors on site? Then you could ask them what they use and how it works. Otherwise I would recommend http://www.breitbandmessung.de and http://www.allestoerungen.de look at which provider at the respective address / in the respective region as truncates.

Can't say in general. I also have 400 Mbit from Unitymedia and it works perfectly, but there are also many that have problems. This usually depends on the location. The best solution would be to ask in the neighborhood, then you know it exactly.
With DSL one has however more Upload, I believe around 10 Mbit with cable and 40 Mbit with DSL for 100 Mbit Download.

Thanks for the answer,

yes EWE is Stadtwerk. Unfortunately, I do not know my neighbors, the only thing I know that it is mostly older people because it is more of a cure area. Maybe I'm lucky that I meet my previous tenant, who is my age.

I've never had EWE as an internet service provider as it has always been a power and gas provider to me.

I will inform myself then probably about Vodafone and EWE concerning the disturbances.

What would upload be important for?

The only thing I do with the Internet is watching and streaming services like Netflix.

Do I really upload a lot of files, or is uploading important for other stuff?

Da

I also do not have much upload, usually 10 Mbit at 100 Mbit down. If there are many who upload videos to Youtube, or save their data in clouds, then it is a little bit.

As with another answer already come up: Cable has the disadvantage that all share the same and then the performance goes down when all at once access it. DSL, however, has the disadvantage that the network is switched very often, if someone moves in the house, it may well be that your connection is dead afterwards, on the street at the distributors also pass mistakes and so on. You do not have that with cable again.

I have here 120 of unitymedia (soon Vodafone) on cable and am very satisfied with it. If it fails, then a complete knot is gone and accordingly high pressure is being worked on. In 5 years I had perhaps 4 disturbances that made me 1-2 evenings offline. No problem, I like reading anyway.

The speed also varies, but not so that it would not be usable. And streaming is always possible.

Luck and bad luck you can have with every technique and every location, so look how satisfied you are with the respective provider and decide afterwards.
