In my current apartment we have a 100,000 line. However, I'm moving into my own new apartment.
I'm now faced with the question, should it be a 50,000 line or should it stay at 100,000?
What I do, I stream a lot on Netflix in Hd and otherwise I play games on my PC and now and then something on my phone.
Is a 50,000 line enough or would videos from Netflix possibly lag?
The 50k line is enough for Netflix but if you want to download something bigger, the 100k is more pleasant. If there isn't such a big difference in price, I would go for 100k.
How many people live in your household and do you often download large files whose duration interests you?
As a single or couple household, 50K is actually sufficient, but if it doesn't cost much more I would take the 100K.
Depends on the resolution at Netflix - you only have HD. Games are also getting bigger and bigger in terms of the amount of data.
If you don't plan to watch 4K soon and don't have to download huge games, 50Mbit / s is enough. You also save a good 5 euro / month.
EDIT: Not to be forgotten are the roommates. With 2+ people I would take a 100Mbit / s line
I'm moving into the apartment alone. The bandwidth is only used by me or occasionally by possible visitors who are more likely to be on with their cell phones.
At the moment I don't really download a lot on a regular basis unless I want to install something new on Steam because the files can be as much as 30gb (rarely also a bit larger)
Since you can actually save the 100K line. You can improve it later.
30GB are downloaded with a 50K line in less than 1.5 hours.
I'm alone in the house, so it's only used by me. Yeah, I would save about 5 euro, in the first 10 months it is even 10 euro (50,000 9.99 euro after 10 M. 39.99e, 100,000 19.99 euro after 10 M. 44.99 euro)
So I don't load a lot on a regular basis, but every now and then a game on Steam, which can be bigger (about 30gb)
I think then a 50Mbit / s line is enough. 30GB isn't that much either. But if you download any 60GB + AAA games weekly, a 100Mbit / s line is worth it.
So: take 50Mbit / s, you can always upgrade.
That depends on what cables you have in front of the door. What you can maximally receive through it. But they would have to explain this to you during a consultation. This is easy to find out using the street name.
Sure you can pay for 50,000 or 100,000. But when the lines in the street don't give more than maybe 6,000 you simply pay too much for something that you can't use.
Inform well. A few years ago I went everywhere and took advice. Only one in 10 asked for the street and pointed out that I probably couldn't receive more than 6,000. But now they are laying fiber optics in the area, it will probably be different. Ask questions and seek advice, don't be blinded. It should already be in the network which streets give what.
Yes, when loading games, if I want to play something new, it would certainly be nicer
I've already done that, so by that I mean, I've had an availability check made with the provider where I want to book my Internet and the 50,000 line and the 100,000 are available.
Yes, I don't like paying too much for something you can't afford. Especially since you then have a contract term if you do not terminate in the 2 weeks period at the beginning.
Then for better or for worse, I had to do a little math. My offspring did that for me. And together we decided on the smallest contract. That's enough for our apartment. For this we were also waived the 1,700 euro for the connection from the street to the cellar. In contrast to now, it will be very rapid.
Until recently, we got along well in a 3-person household with 16,000 DSL. Only occasionally did you notice the limits. Since z. B. With sensible ad blockers also reduce the data traffic properly.
The current 50,000 does not seem so positive… Despite streaming on two devices, etc.
You should also keep in mind that if you have lower bandwidth promises that are kept much more regularly.
In addition, you notice which performance you actually need much better with the lower bandwidth and you can usually upgrade to during the minimum contract period. Conversely, you do not notice when you have too much power and in general you could not downgrade in the middle of the contract.
