I don't have Wi-Fi. What should I do?

We moved a few months ago and since the move we no longer have Wi-Fi because my mother said I was addicted to cell phones. My mother has a very negative attitude towards the internet. I'm also very sure not to be addicted to mobile phones because I can also (well) without it because I have endured the few months. I have 12 GB a month.

I'm starting to get annoyed to have to constantly check if I still have data volume. Never having a say when others talk about current Tik Tok trends, a youtoub beef or a new series on Netflix. If I don't understand something at school and want to inquire on the Internet, I have to be careful not to consume too much. My friends also rarely write to me because they don't want to waste my mobile data.

My pocket money would be enough for Wi-Fi but I don't think you can make a contract under 18. I'm 14 and will soon be 15 years old.

My mother would also disagree that we have Wi-Fi and I have to hand in my cell phone from a certain time because she would think that I could get a cell phone from somewhere.

I don't dare to ask my neighbors because I'm extremely shy.

Do you have any idea what I could do?

Fi

You really can't do anything about it. You can only talk to your mother that this is important to you. Now you need good reasons where she doesn't think you are addicted to cell phones.

It's her apartment after all and she decides that you are not even 15.

If you have cool neighbors you could secretly ask if you can dial in, but if that comes out your mom will probably slap your face to the broth.

Ja

How can you then ask this question without Wi-Fi?

Da

If you write that you have enough pocket money, then simply increase your data volume!

With 5 to 10 euro / month you could certainly double that at least.

And sorry, if you already have problems with 12 GB a month, I can understand your mother a little! Already a lot of this volume can be used at 14 years per month.

For Wi-Fi you only need a Wi-Fi access point, but if you want Internet access you need a DSL contract and a DSL modem, usually integrated in a modem router (many Fritz boxes have such). A Wi-Fi access point is often integrated. Wi-Fi then costs nothing.

Contracts can only be concluded from the age of 18, as you already know.

With mobile data

wa

The internet is not just for fun. It offers a lot more. I e.g. I'm dependent on the internet just because of my job. If this didn't exist, I wouldn't be able to make money. If I remember, in 7th grade I even needed the internet for school to receive emails from our teacher. That's why I absolutely can't understand your mother's attitude. Perhaps you will explain the positive benefits of the Internet to her and assure her that you will only use it to a limited extent. In 2020 not having an internet connection in the house, I almost echoed Stone Age fuss.

de

But if she doesn't agree to increase it, I can't do anything, can I?

Ja

Ah missed it. Sorry At your age I didn't even have a cell phone.

Plus, 12GB is a lot. Don't know what you have.

Da

She doesn't write that there's no internet in the house!

It only speaks of WLAN! She would also like to dial in with her cell phone and / or tablet to save mobile data!

wa

I wrote "no internet connection in the house". Is a mobile tariff an internet connection in this sense? No.

"Just talks about Wi-Fi" - and how is it possible to have Wi-Fi in the house? (Cell phone hotspot of course excluded) Through an internet connection, right!

Da

The questioner does NOT write that there's no internet connection!

Mom can have a router WITHOUT Wi-Fi.

And so mom, internet, e-mail and Co., but the FS has no WLAN and have to use the mobile data from the provider / cell phone contract at home.

Then your assumption / assumption does NOT fit:

"In 2020 not having an internet connection in the house, I almost echoed for Stone Age Getue.p"

But you probably still don't get what I mean.

Do

I surf 12 GB in an hourā€¦

Ja

Well then congratulations! You're addicted to cell phones!

de

My mother only has mobile data.

Da

Then I agree with Svoon22, impossible and out of date!

Do

What does that have to do with it? Think about it before you write anything. How much GB I use has nothing to do with cell phone addiction. Then when the time I hang in front of the cell phone. When I watch YouTube for an hour it is clear that 12GB are gone. Do you think every YouTube video is 2 Mb or what? šŸ¤¦

Ja

Sorry, but who can't get by with 12 gb a month can only be addicted to cell phones. I have a lot less GB a month and it is enough.

Do

I don't know what you're doing on the cell phone but okā€¦

Ja

I watch YouTube videos, go to Google, check my mails, write on Whatsapp, go to Facebookā€¦

I just don't hang on my cell phone for hours.
