Am I maybe out? And if so, what is currently in?

For some time now I have been seriously wondering if maybe I'm completely out and I do not realize it.

I mean, professionally.

I'm slowly approaching the 60's.

My hobby, which I was fortunate enough to be able to do as a profession, is to give other people a pleasure, at least for a brief moment, to get them out of everyday life.

Worldwide, my company has been working for just about everyone and everyone who has rank and name.

Be it Michael Jackson, NASA, David Copperfield (or at that time Siegfried & Roy), just about every company in the top 500 in the world rankings (Apple, McDonalds, Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Procter & Gamble and almost all car companies, etc.). Half Las Vegas we have set up. Also, Disneyland and Hollywood, the Lido Paris, Seaworld San Diego etc.

With what?

I rent and sell a combination of the elements water, fire and laser, which are synonymous with music as a show.

So, on a thin film of water a story is projected by slide, video and laser. Hundreds, sometimes thousands of individual fountains of water dance, sometimes turning, moving, panning and forming different levels and shapes to suit the music (such as the Hotel Bellagio in Las Vegas or the Burj Khalifa in Dubai). These water fountains are illuminated in colorful and in color. And all this is rounded off with fire effects, fragrance stimulation, temperature sensation and vibration sensation.

Another component is real water droplets (ie no projection) that float freely in the air, move up or down slowly in slow motion.

I use all this, e.g. For events, fairs, events (for example company anniversary) as a highlight or as a spectator magnet.

The whole inside as well as outdoors. For only five spectators or for over one million in one evening - we have already done everything.

For some years now, I have noticed a considerable decrease in customer inquiries, despite intensive efforts on our part in marketing and advertising.

In the past, we were "run into the shack," sometimes working with multiple teams on one day in different locations around the world.

Not that it would bother me financially - I have been financially independent for some time now.

It has just been my life's life and my center of life to do such things. It gave me incredible pleasure and satisfaction.

And now I ask myself: Is all that I'm offering now perhaps "old iron" or an "old hat", and I do not notice it in my delusion?

I know that the "younger generation" is probably more likely to work with Netflix, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and so on.

Am I completely out?

And if so, what is currently "in"?

What do you think?

I'm really sincerely grateful for opinions, suggestions, tips, hints - just answers of all kinds.

Interesting post.

Do not worry, this is probably the Apple phenomenon. For years, the customers have paid mad amounts to be Hipp and up front. In the meantime rumors that there's the same product at Huawei for half.

I think in your case you are also like Tesla. There are 500,000 people worldwide who pay any price for this eco-image. The rest yawns tired and says a product that has more disadvantages than existing must also be cheaper and not more expensive. The market is served and then the business is over.

In your case Las Vegas and the oil sheiks have the product and the rest wants it cheap at best. It broke out there.

I'm old myself, but I think most likely to jump on the vegan and digital nomad train. But also hesitantly. To be honest, the last wave was the SMS. Apple just marketed it properly.

Thank you!

I do not think that's a general change. TV has been around for decades, whether RTL or Netflix is on it, I think makes no big difference. If you just look at amusement parks, such as Europa-Park or Disneyland, they continue to grow, with no end in sight. They would not do that if there was no demand. And what belongs to amusement parks and probably will always belong, are special effects. After all, people go to amusement parks for that very reason, to see great things that you do not see in everyday life.

Of course, I can't explain why you yourself are experiencing that demand has diminished. Maybe there's less hype around it because it is nothing new, because it has become established. However, that also means that it is here to stay.

I myself am a relatively young, big fan of amusement parks, and one thing I can promise you: you will always be able to inspire me with laser shows, fountains and special effects, and there's much more of my kind.

There are also the people who only look at the phone. They do not know what they are missing. Anyone who loses the ability to get excited about things outside the internet has forgotten what life is.

With your work you inspire people and care for bright eyes. Especially with children, but with that you can make it easy for many people to bring out the inner child, who is enthusiastic about colorful lights and effects.

Unfortunately, as a student of media technology, I also had to confess that the corporate identity or your website is a bit dusty and a bit confusing. In another question you have addressed a page of your website (hovering drops). I then went to your site (mobile), but unfortunately could not find it. With a better website, you could possibly "pick up" more potential customers. Things like design, logo, colors etc. Are more important than you often think. The human being makes many decisions subconsciously, and the first impression, which is caused on the Internet by website and company appearance, plays here purely. Even if your products are really good, it may be that someone decides against it, because the website has not addressed him. That's why I would recommend you to work on it, and I wish you all the best for the future.

That does not have much to do with "out". You have certainly got cheaper competition and now you have to profile yourself as a "brand". Your events would actually be predestined for you Tube or Instagram - maybe VR experiences would be a means of customers to try?

Many thanks for the honest words.

That the website is dusty, I hear again and again. Lately, the website has been rebuilt eight times - but WHAT EXACTLY should be / should be changed, this is not clear to any of us.

And even from the outside, we do not get any constructive suggestions as to what exactly should be done / changed…

So slowly I'm desperate…

Yes, there are some freeloaders.

But what worries me just: No one knows what prices we ask.

And inquiries (also for the price) are now less and less, and I meant just that with the term "out"

Qu

I thought about your - extremely interesting - statement…

It may be that "the rest at most cheap" wants.

But what makes me think is the fact that we now have fewer and fewer requests for the price. No one knows how much we charge (that is, whether it's expensive or cheap) …
