My 3 children all 5 - 8 are unimaginative, they are always bored and can't do anything in their nursery, the only thing that concerns them is video games or Netflix. What's the matter with the kids these days? When I was a child I always did something with my brother, be it Legos, painting, handicrafts, trains etc etc. We never complained when it got boring because we were always busy somehow.
Take these things away from them. Then they are forced to take action.
And wouldn't give it back either.
You don't have the right dad who shows you things like making a fire without matches (magnifying glass, flint), tinkering water rockets, soldering, paddling on the river in the rubber boat in winter… I have no children but a granddaughter whom I show all that… And she is enthusiastic about it… Making animated films with chocolate egg characters or with modeling clay…
Your children have parents who allow them to watch Netflix and play computer games all the time.
If they had parents who severely limit this time, then they would not be so unimaginative.
Children always complained about how bored they were.
It is precisely from this boredom that most of creativity comes about.
I forgot to mention that only Saturday and Sunday video games and Netflix are allowed

Was there YouTube, Netflix and such "easy" access to TV in your childhood?
Not really, I think.
Parents provide the framework, their behavior serves as an example for the offspring.
Occupy yourself, find something to do, get creative even in an empty room with a cardboard box and colored pencils… That "isn't just there" but can be practiced.
But even with the most creative, active family with insanely little media consumption, it can happen that the youngsters "sometimes" get bored.
You could offer opportunities there.
For example, today we made some kind of chocolate crossies ourselves. Cornflakes leftovers poured into a bowl, melted the couverture, mixed the two together in the bowl, put small heaps on baking paper with a spoon and then had to wait until everything was a little firmer (afterwards the things come in the refrigerator).
You could plant pepper seeds together. Ideal if you happen to cut peppers for dinner on the same day.
