Since I'm on the Netflix quite often, I would also like to use this time by learning a little English with the series. What's the most effective way to learn English with series? What subtitles? Happy with reasons.
I think it's best (helped me) if you watch English series and switch on the German subtitle, because you can always read along when you don't know what it's about!
Depends on your knowledge of the spoken language and the series itself. If you already speak English, I would recommend English and narrow subtitles.

Someone who claims to watch with German subtitles is weird. There are several German translations for English words. It's best to watch the series in English with English subtitles. If you have German sound then you will not follow the English subtitles. If you have German subtitles then you will read the subtitles and pay no attention to the sound. So you should avoid that.
