Are smart home devices demanding on the Wi-Fi connection?

For some of you the question may sound stupid and maybe one has nothing to do with the other, but since I'm not technically knowledgeable, I still hope for your help.

About my problem:

I recently started using two smart bulbs over the Hue Bridge with the Alexa Echo Dot. So far, the connection of the devices has worked perfectly and is only slightly delayed. Now, however, since the installation of this smart home constellation, I have had continuous failures in the Wi-Fi connection on other devices, for example with Netflix on the television or on the cell phone while surfing, which has almost never happened before. Therefore my question is whether there's a connection between the use of the smart home devices and the WLAN failure (approx. Every 20-30 minutes).

It is quite possible, one can't say for sure. But both technologies transmit on the same frequencies, so they can interfere with each other.

What you could do (with no guarantee of success):

If devices (router and bridge) are close together: remove devices from each other. The difference between 10cm and 1m, for example, can have a big impact.
Look in the router which channel is used for WLAN, possibly try another.
If available / possible, try the Wi-Fi in the 5GHz range

Many thanks for your response!

I'll try the first tip straight away. The WLAN is already in the 5GHz range.
