Alternatives to streaming services?

I have a problem. I can no longer watch series.

I still live at home (and I will for the next few years because I've only just finished school and if I find something I want to start studying in the fall), on the one hand I have the problem that we don't have a lot We have money and for this reason we can't have streaming providers like Netflix Amazon Prime or Disney +, especially because my dad doesn't want to sign any contracts because we're financially inflexible. On the other hand, my dad is also relatively anti technology in general, for example, we never order anything online but always let it run through friends and acquaintances, and he doesn't want me to have a PayPal account or the like. That's why he doesn't want any streaming services either (he's afraid that something can happen / you lock things up that you don't want and can't cancel it afterwards, etc.). You don't need to discuss it with him either, me and my mom have tried that before, but no chance. He's just afraid of / is overly cautious there, you can't do anything.

That's why I've been looking at all of my series on pages on the Internet for years, if you understand what I mean. Sometimes we were lucky that people we knew burned something but unfortunately that also fell asleep. Anyway, I watched most of my series online, knowing that it's not entirely legal, but I had no other choice. You also want to watch the series that everyone else is watching or generally watch series. In any case, I can no longer watch the page where I've always watched my series and also not on the "other very well-known page" because both now demand that you have to create an account with NordVPN (and that is, too again with abbo and costs money monthly, so it doesn't work either).

That's why I wanted to ask if you know alternatives for me, especially alternatives to the "two most popular sites online".

sorry but i love to watch series like every teenager. I just want a bit of normality when I'm otherwise not able to afford "everyday luxury" that almost everyone else my age can enjoy. Watching and analyzing series and films is also a big hobby of mine, film in general is one of my greatest interests. It would be just terrible if that were to disappear forever (until I moved out in a few years and start earning my own fixed income, if that's enough at all).

Hope you understand me and that the question is not deleted. It sucks when you don't even have the money for things like that.

There's an app called "Pluto TV" there are series / films. As far as I know, it's free too. Unfortunately, I don't know which series and films are out there, but you can try it out hope it works.

On some pages / social media channels, people offer an account of e.g. B. Netflix for shared use. Maybe you will find something there?

Mo

So to explain that first

Viewing the site is not illegal, but uploading it is

So you don't make yourself liable to prosecution, rather the pages where you looked

Basically, you don't always need a VPN for something like that

Since most of the pages are blocked by the Internet providers via DNS

DNS briefly explained

Domain Name System, worldwide directory service that administers the namespace of the Internet. So something like a phone book for the Internet

So basically you only need to change the DNS address on your device

Most of them use those from Google or cloudflare

er

With all the pages offered, I would rather be concerned that you would face really heavy costs with a warning because of illegality.

One of the big three isn't that expensive either.

Viewing the site is not illegal, but uploading it is

Viewing it on such sites is also illegal.
The ECJ clarified this in 2017. The gray area of the past no longer exists

Ah okay

Get movies and series from the local library. You can get a lot earlier than on Sky or Netflix. Otherwise there's always good stuff in the media libraries of the public broadcasters.

by

But don't think I'll get netflix / amazon originals there😅

and in general until things are shown on free tv / can be bought, for example the new season of The Walking Dead that almost always lasts a whole year later, like the publication on amazon prime.

by

Thanks! I will definitely try it! 🙌🏻

by

Yes tell my papa. Have discussed it so often but he won't change his mind. He thinks that streaming services are like cell phone contracts and suddenly become more expensive or can no longer be canceled and then you get into the debt trap.

I've tried to talk to him about it so often but he doesn't want to get involved.

by

Hm that would at least be an idea for the future but unfortunately i don't have a smart tv / internet enabled tv in my room so i can't have netflix on the glb anyway, if that would only work in the living room and there we have stop again the problem that my dad doesn't want that.

don't you know other certain internet sites besides the two big ones?

An

You can actually only use Netflix with voucher cards without having to specify a different payment method. Maybe that would be an option.

by

Hmm okay you just have to enter a code on the voucher card or how does it work

and thank you

An

Yes. When you register you can simply enter a voucher in addition to the usual payment methods.

'The Walking Dead' e.g. Do you watch RTL2 earlier than Netflix, at least that was the case from seasons 5 to 10, I didn't follow it before. 'Better Call Saul' was recently shown on ZDFneo and it's a Netflix original.

What are your requirements? You don't want to pay anything but see everything right away. My compassion is limited.

by

Ne just not season 10 ran sometime at the beginning of 2020 on prime or AMC and only in late October or November on rtl on free tv, I already know lol

and didn't even say that I don't want to pay😂

if you can't understand my point of view then you shouldn't have to answer again

by

Thank you.

You asked for alternatives and I told you about them.

Season 10 ran from October 2019 on Sky parallel to the US broadcast on FOX. This is the case with every new TWD season. Netflix is a year behind, that's right. Nevertheless, you can still see it well before Netflix on DVD in the library and also on FreeTV on RTL2. That was an example that the mentioned alternative is not that bad and that some streaming providers beats. Not more.

and didn't even say that I don't want to pay😂

No of course not…

Hope you understand me and that the question is not deleted.

… Then the concern is unfounded.

I hope it helped you at least a little.

Netflix also runs on the PC. You should have something like that, otherwise it doesn't matter which pages are named to you 😅
