BluRay vs DVD clarification please?

Since about 2016 I've only been using streaming services (Netflix, Prime for a year, or Kino.to. If they don't exist) and since I'm 18 I've never bought a DVD for myself.

Since every studio will offer its streaming service (not like "only Netflix" 3 years ago) it is not financially worthwhile to pay 10-15 euro a month for the 7 world studios for a lifetime (where I probably only watch 25% of the time ). A total loss for my wallet in the long term. - And Kino.to doesn't come close enough to the quality of a DVD + damage to studios.

I'm 18, travel back in time, and when I think about it… It's really a great feeling to hold a physical film in your hand is just unusual.

In any case, I find the whole thing totally exciting when I can watch the films that I found good in the cinema at home at any time and now I want to slowly start my collection. (And it just looks awesome when it's in the closet as decoration, has something) - Just hope that there won't be 1000 DVDs in a few years.

The only problem is: I only have a DVD player. Would it be better to switch to BluRay now for the future?

Only DVDs with an average of 5 euro have really become cheap goods.

I don't really know about it and to be completely honest… This minimal difference is not so vital, but it is still often sold as "essential". And when I see how expensive such a player can be, I might throw up, especially now in the age of streaming services, demand should actually fall and with it the price.

With a BluRay you have four times better resolution and better sound.

And you can get such a player for 50-60 euro

If you think the difference between DVD and Blu-Ray is only minimal, then just buy the same film on DVD and Blu-Ray (there are many media books that contain both) and compare it yourself. Blu-Ray is of course preferable! A good Blu-Ray player is available for around 100 euro.

And a little life hack: nobody forces you to keep a streaming subscription for life!
