I would like to read some good, recommended, modern science fiction novels. Unfortunately there's a lot of trash in this genre. Can anyone recommend books that…
… Do not belong to Star Wars, Star Trek, Scheibenwelt, or Perry Rhodan?
… Mainly dealing with life on alien planets / colonization / interaction with extraterrestrial beings?
… No endless series, but (soon) are completed?
For example, I like the following series and films: The Arrival, The Alien Series, Lost In Space (Netflix), Contact, Babylon 5, Avatar - Departure for Pandorra
Solaris by Stanislaw Lem
Picnic by the Strugazski brothers
"Solaris", by Stanislaw Lem.
This is a psychological, literarily demanding novel that belongs to one of the best science fiction novels ever.
We recommend.
Thanks 🙏
I don't like it with authors, so only the titles.
Barrayar
Honor Harrington
Deathstalker
Sten Chronicles
Barakuda trilogy
(Warhammer 40K)
(Mechwarrior series)
Darkover (SF or Fantasy depending on the age)
Santiago. A myth from the far future
The Space Beagle
Pretty mixed from the presentation. I would definitely read Barrayar and Barakuda.
The three suns.
This is a novel by a Chinese author, but very good.
Really? I can't get anything out of this novel.
"Picnic along the way" is an insider tip. Sweeping science fiction from the Soviet Union. If you like the Strugatskis, "Monday starts on Saturday" is also quite good. Partly surreal.

Modern was in demand.
