Me and my family want to watch a science fiction film to distract from Corona but have no idea what. It should be included in either Netflix or Amazon Prime. And not Star Trek, Star Wars (a pity), superheroes, galactics and sliders. We have already looked at it. It can also go in the direction of steam punk (hopefully spelled correctly).

He grabs it - it is made insanely interesting and absolutely no shocker. Read it briefly on the internet afterwards and check out the trailer on Youtube. Really harmless. It will fascinate him and you too
So "Moon" is definitely recommended.
I myself am a fan of industrial scifi. So the opposite of these sterile and ultra-hip StarTrek or Star Wars Universes.
Their wedding was in the late 80s and 90s.
My favorite film is "Outland" with Sean Connery, a little trashier, but somehow cool is "Moon44".
Event Horizon is more horror.
Minority Report, Bladerunner (where the sequel was really successful), Judge Dredd (a little squeaky-colored) and Dredd (much more uncompromising implementation) play on Earth, also with Silvester Stallone is "Demolition Man" from the 90s. It can be funny, but too often you can't see it.
"Oblivion" and "Edge of Tomorrow" are a bit newer, and really good films, even if you are not a Tom Cruise fan.
