My parents don't let me watch some films because of the actor?
I often watch a lot of films on Netflix and absolutely wanted to watch the film crazy (with Angelina Jolie). My father came down and told me not to watch the film because Angelina Jolie is making money with it again. He hates her

Well, actors usually get a certain salary to play in the film. It's paid for before you even get to see the film in netflix and co.
So that the actors also earn money from the marketing (profit sharing), this must be in the contract - which is not always the case.
The question is now - when a film is shown on netflix, is it how many users see the film for profit sharing - or does netflix already pay the sum x for the provision (at the studio which will then probably pay the actor).
Unfortunately I'm not really familiar with the model - I was also unable to find anything spontaneously in Google. But I'm sure… Whether you watch the film or not. Pretty much has no effect on the cash inflow of the actors.

If they think they won't let you dictate which actors they may like, ask them why they don't want to give you their own taste.
And then ask them if they care about the fact that you keep in touch with them as soon as you are of legal age. Or whether they no longer want contact with you and you'd better move to a home immediately…

A not so passive-aggressive but typically pubescent resistance would be to make these stars a constant topic. So rave about what it takes! At some point your parents will surrender or just go nuts… 😉
