Haven't seen a Star Trek series or a Star Trek movie, would it still be advisable to watch Star Trek Discovery on Netflix?
Don't watch Discovery. It has nothing to do with Star Trek. You can't go wrong if you look in the order in which it was produced.
I didn't like Discovery, so I don't recommend it to anyone (unless someone wants to see it all).
In my opinion, Next Generation is the right place to start. Of the 178 episodes, around 50 can be regarded as cured, 50 are great and the rest of the episodes have different tastes, or they are just middle class. Since the series is pretty episodic, most of the stinkers can be left out. However, there are also some storylines that run across all seasons (the Borg, the Klingons, the Cardassians), which should be seen in the correct order. Even outside of these strands, episodes occasionally refer to previous ones, e.g. Every now and then some "relatives" of Data appear, and the characters develop moderately.
