I was trying to finish a movie the other day when I was taken straight to the Netflix support page after clicking Play. (https://help.netflix.com/de/node/23742) I have Firefox as the standard browser and I'm currently using Windows 7.
Then I downloaded Silverlight to https://www.microsoft.com/...rSL#sysreq in the hope that the playback of films / series would work again.
Unfortunately it doesn't work now, although when I started the film I didn't get a message like that and never before. In my settings it says "Installation soon"; see the screenshot)
Do you maybe know why? And how can you fix it?
Thanks in advance. Here is the screenshot:
Have you ever tried the Netflix app?
My cell phone is very large and I use Netflix. Only on the PC. Therefore, it would be of little use to me on a smartphone, if the PC is not.
Do you realize that there's also a Netflix app for PCs?
How app? Link?
Are you on a Windows PC or Mac? If Windows simply searches for Netflix in the Microsoft Store.
Is at the top
Wow, how nice…
Silverlight is actually used more or less only by ancient web-based applications.
HTML 5 is standard today and is supported by all modern browsers.
If you use Internet Explorer, I would switch to Firefox / Chrome / Opera or at least use the modern Edge.
The streaming then definitely works without any problems.
I already have Firefox, what do I have to do now?
Nothing really, as I said, Firefox is a modern browser that plays on Netflix without any problems. I have never read about such problems and have now made every effort to use Internet Explorer.
Maybe it's because I'm using Windows 7?
No, I do not think so. As you can see in the table, Firefox also supports HTML 5 on Windows 7.
Do you have HTML 5 automatically or do you have to install it first?
You "have" that automatically. More precisely, the website provides you with this and it only has to be supported by your browser.
But if I have everything that is necessary, why doesn't it work anymore? I've never had the problem before.
This is a good question, which unfortunately I can't answer.
