Prefer video games or Netflix / Youtube / Blunt media?

I'm currently having an argument with my parents. They say that it is not good to play video games for more than 3 hours, but you can sit in front of the PC / cell phone for the rest of the day. I get up at 9:00 am to go to sleep around 1:00 am. Ergo that is 16 hours of waking time where I sit 13 hours a day in front of the PC and watch Stump Youtube / Netflix / Disney + and play 3 hours. Now my question, wouldn't it be better if I play 5-6 hours a day, but only consume 3-4 hours of "dull" media? I would get up at 9 (doing school things if necessary), doing sports and playing the piano (one of my duties). When I finished that, I would be busy until 3pm or 4pm and play from there. Is it really that bad? Any arguments my parents give against it make no sense or simply have nothing to do with the discussion… I'm 15, by the way. I have nothing against detailed answers and possibly arguments that I could name. The main game that I'm currently playing is Fornite, which also requires Brainplay (I'm a good player and was several times shortly before taking prize money with me). You need enormous stamina and concentration… Isn't that better than consuming dull media?

Your parents are right! Both make us dull and lack creativity.

Bl

I mean that you play Fortnite says it all.
But that's your thing.

Your parents may worry that you are developing a gambling addiction.
Or haven't you asked her yet what the reason is?

do

But. They think that I change but if I ask them for an example, they can't give me a specific one.

Or

Take a little break, this is sick. Try "only" 5 hours a day to deal with it. Are you out of life I can understand your parents…

Bl

Well, you are 15 it is clear that you are changing. In all respects.
Just make it clear that you are responsible for the direction in which you develop and not your parents. And then you can think in which direction it goes if you only consume media all day.

But if that's what you want, feel free to tell them that gambling addiction only begins when other important things are neglected.

I could never sit on my laptop or stream so much. I watch all of my favorite YouTube's new updates every day and that's it. I only watch Netflix in the evening (or TV), except like yesterday, when I was really bored dead (Sundays), but even there I "only" watched a concert film.

It's just not good for your health. Instead, I would rather do without a cell phone for a day (except to listen to music), muck out my room from front to back, tidy up and clean, read a book, go out, draw something or maybe just bake something.

My eyes and hands hurt after a while on my cell phone, so I couldn't sit in front of it for so long.

You can gamble, you can also stream, but I would set limits for my (or your) own good. E.g. Play video games no more than 10 hours a week and watch only one episode of a series or movie every night.

I e.g. Don't gamble, just watch updates from my fave YouTubers every day and only watch Netflix in the evenings. That is enough. In the remaining time I do what I indicated above.

And it can be really fun to clean out your room - I need about 3-4 hours with cupboards, bookshelves, etc., and clean and tidy up. You are busy with a good day and afterwards you can make yourself comfortable with a glass of water and lemon and read something.

I don't understand what people get out of putting down other people because they don't like a game that someone else likes.

Bl

Too bad that you do not see the obvious irony in my statement ^^
Even if it was meant seriously, nobody is going to put anyone down here.

Ma

How can you still have a life in Corona times? It's ridiculous. Everything is tight

Ic

Ok boomer

Ma

I do not know what should be better with a morbid order than to gamble. These are only 2 sides of the same medal. And to clean and tidy his room every 3 days or 3 hours, I can no longer see as normal. There's usually not that much to do.

I don't have a mess. I only do this every few months when my room looks so disastrous that even my cats don't want to go in anymore.

So the difference is that when you play yourself you think and have to react to what is happening in your environment, you get pressure on yourself when opponents are nearby, etc.

When watching videos, however, you do nothing but record information, you can't change anything that has happened, everything is fixed and will proceed as it was filmed.

So I also find it very annoying that (my) parents are against video games but not against streaming although both actually damage the eye as much because both are played on the same screen

Or

So I don't know which city you live in, but the shops have been open all over Germany for about 2-3 weeks…

Ma

Is more about clubs, swimming pools or soccer fields etc. Where you have met people. Going shopping all day is rather impractical for most people and also not cool with a mask. Very questionable whether, for example, youth fire brigades will survive the long lockdown, many will probably not get back together because the kids have lost interest if they are out too long
