PC just restarts?

Hi

I have the problem that my PC will just restart under certain circumstances. So far, this always happened when I wanted to watch DAZN football, sometimes also on Amazon Video. At first I thought it might be because of the browser, but Chrome, Firefox and Edge are restarting. Youtube, however, runs without problems. Sky Ticket or Netflix, which have their own player, also work perfectly. Now it was added that it appears in a game (Warhammer: Vermintide 2). I bought it on Steam and wanted to start it, but a reboot came right away. The problem does not occur with other games. It's really like pressing the reset button. I don't have a blue screen either.

My system

Ryzen 7 5800X

Asus B550 F Gaming

Aorus RTX 3060ti

32 GB Ram

Corsair TX 750M gold

Is there something in the event viewer, System tab? Sounds like a power supply to me at first. Do you have the option to test the system with a different power supply?

"The system restarted without properly shutting it down. This error can occur if the system has stopped responding, has crashed, or the power was unexpectedly interrupted."

I don't have another power supply. Can that be because of the NT if the problem occurs only in the situations described? Wouldn't that have to occur much more frequently?

Update your drivers and your BIOS and then you look further

The attached error description is marked with the abbreviation KernelPower or is KernelPower specified directly in front of it? This then indicates a "reset" of the PC, which is unspecific and can range from a simple loose contact on the reset button to the power supply unit.

A power supply failure usually announces itself slowly, I have already experienced a similar case myself. It is unusual for the error to occur while idling (whichever program is running doesn't matter in this case, I'll just define the video stream as idle). A certain part of the power supply is not working properly and therefore it switches off for protection.

In my case it was the case that the problems often occurred with load on the EPS line (with an i5 4460), so that I regularly had such crashes. From now and then once a week to finally every day and hour, with the addition that the power supply would not start for 30 minutes after a failure. There was simply no power supply.

I would therefore exchange the power supply once for a test (borrow it from friends, buy it online - use the withdrawal period if there's no improvement). I recommend https://geizhals.de/...=l&hloc=de for your system (if it is the power supply, you have a high quality one).

Yes, the description says KernelPower. So is it the power supply?

I wonder why does the PC reboot when I start Warhammer? I can't even get to the main menu. Cyberpunk, Witcher, Battlefront etc. Run for hours without any problems.

Edit: The event display also shows the following

"Fatal hardware failure.

Reported by component: processor core

Source of error: Machine Check Exception

Error type: Bus / Interconnect Error

Processor APIC ID: 2

The detailed view of this entry contains further information. "

So maybe the processor after all?

Not necessarily. I now have https://www.igorslab.de/community/threads/gel%C3%B6st-ryzen-3900x-systemabst%C3%BCrze.3542/ (I haven't come across it yet): It seems like this is a RAM problem, which can be fixed by adjusting the ProcODT value to 53.3 Ohm. https://www.reddit.com/...am_timing/. The description of the error from the first link definitely matches your problem. Just try it out.

I have now updated my BIOS, although according to Asus Armory Crate Software no new version is available. However, I've seen that my version is from November 2020 and the new one from February this year. Since then, Warhammer has also been running without a restart.

I will also try DAZN and Amazon Video.

Apparently it was really due to the RAM, which was not yet compatible with the Ryzen 5800x with the old BIOS version.

Hopefully that's over now. In any case, thank you very much for your help.
