No cable connection in the room, still watch TV?

I want to put a TV in my room. However, I don't really know what I'm doing, so I'll describe my problem.

My mother says we only have a cable connection, but I don't have a socket in my room, but I want to buy a Smart Tv. Are there other options besides putting a cable connection in my room? Or should I put the idea out of my head again? Can I use streaming services like Netflix without a connection?

Do you have WLAN? You can connect your tv via Wi-Fi. Then you can at least watch netflix etc. ARD, ZDF in theory too, but not like "watching normal TV".

Po

Of course she has Wi-Fi otherwise she couldn't ask the question here.

Had the same problem as you.

when i was still living with my parents, the previous tenants drilled a hole through the wall.

in my own apartments i put the cable through the apartment, because i only had one connection in the living room.

if you just want to stream, the smart tv is enough. For the tv program you need either a bowl, dvbt2 box or just the cable.

Mobile phone?

Well, either drill a breakthrough and put cables in the room.

DVB-T2 would also be an option, here you receive the television signal via a small antenna. However, I believe that it costs, and the reception is often not particularly good, at least if you live outside of the metropolitan areas.

Otherwise you can just get television via the internet, providers would be e.g. Zatoo or waipu.tv.

However, they cost monthly. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and so on also work without cables, they go purely over the Internet.

Po

Yes, either it is over the mobile data (internet flat) then neither of us is right or it is connected to the cell phone via WLAN.

A few holes in the wall and a long cable.

I sent this note via MOBILE data…
