The following problem is that I can't really activate 5.1 surround sound on my PC. Since my Logitech system recently gave up, I took an older Yamaha hi-fi system.
It naturally has different connections. And now I have no choice but to take Coax or an optical cable. So much my choice on the optical cable and the current problem is that my PC can't really set 5.1 via it.
When I test DTS and Dolby Digital, I don't hear all 5 speakers otherwise. That means I get my surround sound via Netflix or the VLC player because they support DTS and Dolby Digital, but it gets problematic with games where I can't get all the speakers working and I only get an artificial sound.
Is there any option or external software or is simple surround sound via the optical input not possible?
This is not possible with games. At the time I got a suitable sound card:
How does it look with external sound cards, is it possible to connect the system to the sound card via the optical input and to hang it on the PC with the 6-channel cable?
I don't think there are external DDL (dolby digital live) sound cards.
Is older but maybe helpful:
