Witcher: 3 is it still worth it?

Never played The Witcher Game. Only know the netflix series.

Now my question: The game is currently available for 15 euro, is it worth it?

Be

Do you like playing skyrim Or Gothic? For 15 euro is really cheap, if you like to play something like that, it's worth it. Nobody here can tell you whether the game suits your personal taste, look at a trailer, then you know it.

sq

Why should it "no longer be worth it"? Success proves the game right. And for 15 euro you get ridiculously much playing time and quality. However, you should approach the game without expectations. If you only know the universe from the mediocre series, you may be a bit irritated.

ra

You can buy and try it on Steam. If you don't like it and you have less than 2 hours of playtime, you can also return it.

Me

Why do you find the series only mediocre? I actually thought it was quite good.

And before the question comes, yes, I read the books.

Ka

Ehm… The game won several awards, including Best Game of the Year. The Witcher series only became so well known through the third part that the Netflix series was even possible. It was the first and only game so far that I pre-ordered and believed I paid 70 euro for it.

So YES, for a ridiculous 15 euro it is worth something. And why "is it still worth it?" The game is not getting worse over the years.

But there are always other players in which you can also invest time. So I think I'll get it

so

Yes, it is definitely worth it, especially if the two DLCs "Heart of Stone" and "Blood & Wine" are currently included in such current offers…

It doesn't matter which "Best of" list gaming platforms create: Usually "Witcher 3" is included. For many, it's just the game of the decade. And rightly so.

The game offers an engaging plot. Both in the main story and in the side quests, we encounter lively characters who often face morally complex decisions. The world is alive and dark - that is why Geralt can often only choose between "2 evils" and not between good and bad. The stories therefore remain in the memory like a good book. The game is often perceived more as an "experience", as a journey than as a simple "game".

The whole thing is embedded in a lovingly designed and detailed world in which there's just so much to discover. Hardly any other game manages the balance between "Open World" and the main story so well.

As if this quality were not enough, Witcher 3 also scores with quantity: the world is big, the plot is long and the side quests are plentiful. Even those who sprint through quickly can expect over 80 hours. More typical are 100-200 hours in the game. The "Blood and Wine" extension alone offers a world of its own and an action that could compete with many other games on the market.

Witcher 3 has aged very well and is now being played by more players than it was 5 years ago due to the Netfilx series.

Here are a few opinions:

The story of the 3 games, incidentally, takes place after the events of the books and thus the Netfilx series. You should therefore expect to get a few spoilers for other events in the series, especially the end of the Geralt saga of books…
