Was not the case with me, I also only did the test month before I became a paying customer. You have the same access to all content and there was no advertising.
I can only say that it happens to me more often that I watch a certain series on Netflix and sometimes use the cell phone while I'm, there I get ads for games, etc. From the series I'm watching, so the cell phone has to listen in… I think not so awesome…
