Get E-Books?

I got a really cheap e-book. I'm quite new to it and now I want to read daily. It's from the TouchMe brand, you first have to load the e-books on the PC and then drag them over to the e-book reader. Do you have to buy each e-book individually, or can I pay a sum a month and access "all" books, like on Netflix. Where can you get lots of cheap e-book.

Ch

I don't know anything about such a "subscription", but many libraries offer e-books to borrow, but it depends on which device you have, with Amazon's Kindle, for example, as far as I know, this is not possible. But borrowing is usually free…

Which ebook format can your ebook reader read? EPUB?

Then the eLibrary of the city libraries is the best and cheapest way to read really good eBooks for free. You can borrow and download eBooks online for free if you have a library card.

If you have any questions about eLibrary, get in touch.

There's no subscription where you can access ALL eBooks for a fixed monthly price, since eBooks - just like printed books - are subject to fixed prices.

But you have a deadline for the e-loan of the city library. That is very annoying, but I found something on the net. https://www.legimi.de/preisliste/

Mu

With the online loan there's a loan period, usually 2 or 3 weeks, depending on the library. After that, the file can no longer be opened.

At Legimi (your link), did you get an overview of which eBooks are included in the subscription?
I was just looking for a few well-known authors / books, none of which were included in the subscription. So I should have bought that at the normal price.
I'm assuming that the normal books / eBooks - published by publishers - are not included in the Legimi subscription, because the fixed price applies to them.

That's basically the problem with such subscriptions that they always only contain a very limited offer.

Al

Does that mean I have to pay extra for the books? And with the online loan, I can't return the "books". The "date" has almost passed?

Mu

At Legimi, some of the eBooks are included in the subscription and the others are not included in the subscription. The eBooks that are not included in the subscription can only be bought at the normal price.

And then there's the question of whether the books / eBooks that one would like to read are even included in the subscription.

For example, if you search Legimi for eBooks by Suzanne Collins (author of Hunger Games), 9 eBooks will be shown.
But if you then restrict to "subscription" then none will be displayed. So none of this author's eBooks are included in the subscription.
If you remove the "subscription" restriction and click on one of the eBooks, the normal price will be displayed. So if you want to read an eBook by Suzanne Collins, the subscription won't do you any good.
I entered a few other authors I knew and it was the same.

Ebooks that have been borrowed from the online loan can't be opened after the loan period has expired.
Another restriction with online lending is that, with particularly popular eBooks, sometimes all available copies are already on loan and you have to wait until your turn.

At Legimi, in addition to the books, the prices and next to it whether it is a subscription or not. I just think that my city library doesn't have such a large selection. I don't want novels or thrillers, I want books where you can learn something. For example money, economics, history, philosophy, success in professional life, etc. How do I do that with the e-lending in the library?

You are a blessing o.O.

Mu

You should see for yourself what your library has to offer. You can see it online even if you are not a member.

I mainly read crime novels and thrillers, and "my" library has a huge online library offering, including many very current bestsellers.

Al

I called them today, it's free until the lockdown and then it costs 22 euro PER YEAR. I can't say anything about the selection.
