A question about petitions?

So it's about the series Anne with an e, the series was discontinued, but a petition was started (about 700,000 votes). I wanted to know from how many votes what could possibly happen because e.g. The Lucifer series was discontinued, but somehow the fans manage to change their minds. Is there any chance at all?

Nobody to whom a petition is addressed MUST react to it in any way. No matter how many signatures are on it.

Just because a petition has been started is no guarantee that something will continue.
