I used to have 16 Mbit / s for quite a while and even that was MORE than sufficient for Netflix and Youtube… Today I have 60 (after all, it's close to your 50) … And of course that's more than enough.
I once had to go through a very hard time for 3 months and had to live with 2 Mbit / s and even then Netflix went (because Netflix automatically downscales the quality depending on the available bandwidth) … And even with 2 Mbit / s the picture quality was top! The annoying thing was the long loading in the menu. At the same time, however, YouTube would not have been possible.
