Hal I have a bit more time in February than usual at least during the week when there's no party, and I wanted to watch a few French films that are also good and something reasonably contemporary and not so silly or dark. It would be best if they were at netflix.
On my list are:
99 francs
Amelie
The first name
Depression et des potes
un moment d'égarement
On my anti-list (to be oversubscribed) are:
Shtiis
Pretty much best friends
Leon the professional
Magurians Wonderworld
This film with the four daughters and intra-religious dialogue
Also like to watch a doc.
The first name is great. Good thing it's on your list is my absolute favorite film.
Otherwise "Dépression et des potes" is very funny (is a very simple comedy with no deep meaning).

I would rather recommend the classics. Have you ever seen the original with Sylvia Kristel? Man, the scene on the plane convinces both men and women. Otherwise Delon films. Panther two was probably the best last. In general, an almost infinite treasure trove, I think… Then there was one that was very special. With Gehard Depardieu in a leading role (around 1978? Rather earlier). Alain Delon also had a very good documentary about three years ago. Should still be visible in the arte archive. Almost all of them are not dark. Okay, the second one already. Have you seen repulsion yet? If not, then an absolute must! The tenant as the perfect study of psychosis. Just depends on the mood!
Oh yes I don't know. I don't like ham that old, no matter from which country.
Well, it's also a matter of taste. Disgust also produced in the UK. But like the tenant (France around 1976), Polanski is an important main work. Also with the top lady in France at the time.
