Moin, I discovered the series The Witcher on netflix and I'm with the first one, my question is Is it worth looking through completely and does it have a lot to do with the game The Witcher 3? I love the game of it, but I have the feeling that it is not exactly like the film, for example in the film Roach White & there are strange place names that are different in the game Thanks in advance.
I've played through the game multiple times (on all platforms) and also watched the Netflix series multiple times. It is based on the books, not the game - therefore, or rather, there are of course differences. E.g. Geralt has no cat eyes:-)
As far as the story is concerned, however, it is connected, because historically the books are set before the game. This means that the series also takes place before the game, from that point of view it is the history of the game. In my opinion, that alone makes the series interesting, because you get to know all the backgrounds on which the game is based. Because the game or the story there's the narrative after the end of the series of books by Andrzej Sapkowski.
Then there are the great actors. Especially Henry Cavill, who played the last Superman, is very convincing in his role as Geralt von Rivia. Therefore highly recommended for real Witcher fans ;-)
The series and the games have pretty much nothing to do with each other in terms of plot.
It all started originally with the book series by the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. He wrote 9 books, including three short stories and 6 novels. Then three games were developed as an extension of the story. The last game, The Witcher 3, really made the series and books really popular because it shot through the roof.
The Witcher series on Netflix is now the film adaptation of the books on which the games are based. The first season contains the first short stories, with seasons 2 and 3 the first content of the novels will follow.
What that means for you: The Netflix series plays LONG LONG before Witcher 3. Chronologically speaking, you would have to watch the series first, then play the game. I recommend reading the books though, as Netflix has left out and twisted a few things to make it more action-packed. Furthermore, you should definitely play the first two games. Yes, the controls in the first part take getting used to, yes the graphics are no longer the freshest. But it's still a lot of fun.
