A documentary or a film that shows every year what was invented this year, such as alternating current or the first computer. Of course, years can also be lost if there was nothing special. Preferably around 1850-now if there's one.

I don't know anything in that direction and suspect that technological developments
are only presented when you can earn money with it.
I always look at individual press reports and keynotes from companies like Lockheed, Boing, Boston Dynamics, Los Alamos Laboratories, EG&G or institutions like the Smithsonian or MIT, which is of course comparatively cumbersome and time-consuming, so I also use NatGeo or Spektrum for Summaries of rubrics. But I'm not yet familiar with an ingenious format like the one you describe.
