Suppose you want to learn a new language, including with YouTube videos or Netflix series. Would you set the subtitle in the appropriate language or would you prefer to use German?

I always set the subtitle in German and the audio in another language (i.e. The language I want to learn)
As fast as possible? Set the subtitle language to the language to be learned and research and memorize every foreign word. With German subtitles, you bite yourself tightly on them and no longer pay attention to the spoken words in the other language.
At the beginning I would use German subtitles because otherwise you have no context. You have to be able to more or less compare the languages in order to learn one. But if you are already very good in one language then you can do without the subtitles. But maybe that's just me

Yes that helps, you then concentrate more on the language and then have it in your head.
