Repair smartphone charging socket?

I've had a problem with my charging socket on my smartphone for a few days now. At first it was just a loose connection and I put the whole thing on the charging cable, since that happens a lot more often, but when I tried a new cable from others (who worked for them), the problem persisted and was caused by Worse every day.

Four days ago it has stayed overnight, although it was (re) hung on the charging cable, discharged and it could only be charged if the cell phone was completely switched off (not standby). Two days ago then went virtually nothing and since I walk around without a smartphone, which is annoying, because there are so many everyday situations in which you simply unconsciously look at the phone. Besides that, of course, I can't see Whatsapp any more, but often important information is passed on and of course I stay in touch with my friends.

Accordingly, I have informed myself on the Internet and have already tried the local tips, but without success.

First I have with a cable, which was left, with a pair of pliers pressed flat but without effect, even the careful clean the charging socket with a toothpick was without effect, although I got a little dust out.

Now, the question is, if anyone here knows a trick I can apply or if I have to go to a mobile phone repair shop. Should the latter be the case I would be glad, if somebody could tell me briefly how high costs I have to expect and how long such a repair takes.

For about 2 1/2 years I have a Moto G4, with which I'm still very satisfied. Whatsapp, Youtube, Netflix, Twitter etc. Working without problems or larger lags, which is why I do not intend to buy a new device. I have no guarantee anymore.

What kind of charge socket is it? USB-C?

I have a Huawei P20 with USB-C and the cable is always extremely loose. It happened to me that the phone did not charge even though the cable was in it.

For me, the problem was that the cable is extremely loose in the socket. As soon as you lift it up, it falls out. I tried different cables, but it was always the same.

I then got informed online, and it was said that there was probably dirt in the charging socket. Apparently enough even the smallest crumb or the like, so that the cable sits too loose and no longer loads properly.

I then took a thin needle and then moved it in the charging socket (of course, turn off the phone before). And then I've just blown in with compressed air. That has helped me. The cable is still quite loose, but at least I can lift it up without it falling out.

Addendum: I've just read that you've already tried that with a toothpick.

I would still try it again, with compressed air. Or blow in.

I also tried blowing bubbles, but did not help anyway thanks for your answer.

Incidentally, have a normal micro USB connection.

Ok, I have not heard of such problems with Micro-USB. Does the cable fit quite loosely or completely normally? Micro-USB are so on the one hand so 2 small cams off. Are they far enough outside (just in case the cable is too loose).

Whether a repair would be worthwhile I can't tell you. What I wanted to say: you say, the device is 2 1/2 years old and actually still ok, so you do not want to buy a new one. But you must remember that the battery is not getting better. It may be that someday it will break. So before you invest a lot of money in an old device, it would be really worthwhile to get a new one.

It comes to mind: could it be that it is not s.der charging socket, but the battery itself? Is it possible to change it or is it permanently installed?

I once had a device, that was only when it hung on the cable, once the cable was gone, it went out. And I know phones that you can turn on only when the battery is charged to 2-3%.

Get contact spray, but the real "Kontakt 60" in the electronics shop spray it in, blow out the socket and then the plug would have to hold again.
