Twice German on Netflix?

Often when I watch Netflix I see that there are two different types of German, who can tell me what difference that makes, because I'm always surprised

5.1 is a mode with special sound effects, the other just the standard sound.

5.1 for surround sound (Dolby Digital) with 5 speakers and subwoofer

Which sounds better?

I can't tell you, I don't use TV, Netflix and 5.1 sound.
