I saw series on Netflix where some seasons read and some parts. Does anyone know what the difference is?
Seasons consist of individual episodes (films)
A series has consequences. This means that the individual "parts" of the series "follow one another" and build on one another. A consequence is also a "part" of a series.
The term "part" in film is defined by the whole. With a mini series e.g. It is already clear at the beginning of the filming that it is only a temporary project, so we speak of parts here.
With seasons there's only one season with the individual episodes (episodes). In parts, there are usually several parts with individual episodes. A season may also contain multiple parts with multiple episodes (episodes).
A good example is "The operators" on Netflix:
Season 1 - 8 episodes
Season 2 - 8 episodes
Season 3 - 8 episodes
Season 4 - 8 episodes
Last season: Part 1 - 5 episodes
Last season: Part 2 - 5 episodes
Then there are also parts, e.g. If Within a season e.g. 2 (or more) episodes belong together.
A good example is "Bordertown" on Netflix:
Season 1:
1) The Dollhouse 1
2) The Dollhouse 2
3) The Dollhouse 3
4) Dragonflies 1
5) Dragonflies 2
And so on…
