I ask on behalf of my father. He has a holiday home in the Sauerland that he would like to have internet access and is looking for a suitable contract.
The apartment is quite secluded, a normal LTE cell phone connection either does not work or is shaky, depending on the provider.
For this purpose, fiber optic cable connections have been laid in every house over the past few months at the expense of the community.
The apartment is used quite irregularly, so a regular contract is not worthwhile. Sometimes just a weekend, sometimes a week over Easter, sometimes three months not at all…
Nevertheless, it would be nice to have a secure internet connection with a reasonable speed and sufficient data volume (possibly using Netflix, occasionally working from there and moving larger data packets or zooming).
Do you have any ideas as to which provider and tariff would be optimal?

Smallest line. With fiber optics he has to go to Telekom anyway. (Or use Vodafone if TV cable is available)
I myself work for Vodafone Kabel Deutschland, so I'll give you a brief and concise advice here.
Vodafone can also use fiber optics and take advantage of it, so you could purchase up to 1000mb / s download speed if possible.
Since you are not there as often as you said anyway, I would recommend one of the smaller lines such as For 19.99 euro / 24 months and 50Mb / s download speed, which is more than enough.
I myself have this at home and it's enough.
Otherwise there's also a mobile router (GigaCube) that has a SIM card inside and so you can take it with you everywhere and plug it into a socket, but it is only recommended if you travel a lot.
