Does the Amazon Fire TV Stick work without a Prime subscription and can I deactivate Alexa voice control?

Before someone grumbles yes I googled and yes I found out that it should also work without a Prime subscription but unfortunately all articles on the topic that I found are 2 years old or older.

All I can ask have a Prime subscription and a stick of the first generation (without Alexa). I would also like to test the stick from a buddy in advance.

But I also have a little bit to think about whether there will be difficulties because Amazon, Netflix, etc. Meanwhile, pay very close attention to whether subscriptions are shared or exchanged.

I would not touch his Prime Account for test purposes, but would only stream something in the ARD media library.

The stick also works without a subscription, so you can't stream the corresponding content.

Re

But thanks, the more important question for me is whether I can deactivate Alexa voice control and what the legal situation is when I borrow it.

Tu

To use the voice control you have to press and hold the microphone button while talking (a blue bar also appears at the top of the monitor / TV). So it is always deactivated unless you press the button.

Secondly, I can't say anything. However, I have two 4k sticks and one is my travel stick and there were still no problems when I put it in other places in other TV sets.

Re

Thanks that was exactly the info I needed. Can you tell me how it looks with the WLAN?

The stick is supposed to be a gift because my father already uses MagentaTV SAT I don't know if there could be connection problems because my parents only have DSL 16000.

Tu

4k streaming is probably nothing but 2 HD streams at the same time (if one streams something else on another device) is fine.

Re

Then there shouldn't be any problems because neither of them has a 4K-capable TV.

The maximum constellation should be as follows. 1 TV HD Stream directly connected to the router 1 TV HD Stream via WLAN 1 smartphone running a maximum of Google or WhatsApp.

I'm just going to test it with a buddy stick this week.

Tu

If the TV is directly attached to the router (i.e. LAN) … The TV stick comes with Wi-Fi and then it only streams over Wi-Fi. There's n https://www.amazon.de/...B01LXP5TXI to connect it to the LAN, but I never tried it. If there are no Wi-Fi problems, it wouldn't matter what is streamed anyway.

Re

Have tried it today and so far he has passed the "WLAN load test". I occasionally had slight stutters, but that shouldn't be my problem.
