Which surface for distance learning?

I need a comfortable device with which I can work on my studies while on the move. It is important that you can read well, that it does not jerk and that you can also use Netflix as an alternative. I'm doing an IT degree, so it will also need a little power and memory because I have to program. The frame should be between 500 and 750, including keyboard and mouse. Has anyone had a good experience with a device? At Saturn I found everyone very jerky and wasn't that happy with any of them.

I program myself. I'm now studying Artificial Intelligence and I'm also very familiar with hardware.

That's why I'll make you a few suggestions now:

You need a little more RAM. There are certain programming IDEs that eat up a lot.
But there are also many technologies such as Docker or local databases that pull a lot.

Almost any CPU should actually work. At least 4 cores. And speed is not that important.

You won't need a graphics card (you don't plan to play?)

I recommend using a 15 inch display. With a high screen to body ratio. Then you have enough space for several windows when programming etc.

Weight should be a maximum of 2.1 kg. And ideally somewhere between 1.3 and 1.9 kg. Otherwise it is very unwieldy.

If you have a smart laptop, the keyboard should be good too. With all the HP and Acer that are in Saturn, it is not so great. There are better ones.

Storage space at least 450 GB. Even more would be better.

and battery life over 8 hours. 9-16 hours would be ideal here.

if these requirements suit you, I'll be happy to pick something for you. Please write me a comment. Then I'll look out first.
If you still want to change something where, let me know.
I always post a new answer with a laptop and a description + a pro-contra list.

Because of surface: it is not recommended.

I'll probably be back online tomorrow. Good night

Very friendly, sounds very good! Do you get something like that in my price range? I'm "only" learning IT management, so I don't think I will use / write such extreme programs that pull the ram extremely, at least less than normal IT students.

I would lose weight if necessary, which is comparably unimportant to me, the main thing is that the performance is right. I wouldn't play with it, I have a good PC for it anyway, that's more intended for on the go, for example. What I just don't like is jerking, because I value that it is fluid. Then I think a good keyboard is important, as you said, so I don't like these cheap plastic parts.

Battery should also be in the 8 hour range, usually I often have the opportunity to charge it. I'm happy to hear what you can recommend!

Fits đź‘Ť tomorrow I can recommend something to you.

I'm just very tired now

So.

Here we have the first Lenovo IdeaPad:

with i7 processor and a low base clock. That means the battery does not go dead that quickly. 8 GB Ram and 512 GB SSD. Also has a small graphics card with you in case you need it.

The cost is 750 euro. I feel that the keyboard is very comfortable. If you've been into mechanics before, it's a bit of getting used to, but very good. Mouse you need to get another one. You can get good ones for 20-40 euro.

Weighs 1.8 kg and is said to last 11 hours.

Here we have two Lenovo Thinkpads / Books. One for 760 euro and the other for 715 euro.

Once with a Ryzen CPU. Battery 11-12 hours. 1.7 kg: https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de

One with an Intel CPU. Battery 8-9 hours and 1.8 kg: https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de

Both very good. In terms of processor, I would take the Intel.

A Lenovo Ideapad for 700 euro. One of my favourites.

A very stable thing. Price performance is great here.

Then we have an HP Envy Convertible. Also very good to work with. With touch screen etc.

But the ram is not upgradeable.

Good question only lets me write answers every few minutes… That's why I'll continue to write a few as comments.

For you, 50 laptops would be possible:

My favorites are these:

Lenovo Ideapad costs a little more. Has a current processor for it. And you can upgrade the Ram if this is not enough: this is my favorite. https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de

Lenovo ThinkBook (price-performance ratio is top here): https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de

HP envy also very good. You have to like Convertibles Halt. https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de
