The 8 episodes of the second season came on Netflix 3 hours ago, if you want to discuss with me, it is best if you have already seen it, otherwise I unfortunately spoil you.
Spoiler:
They know that Wilford only wants power and doesn't care how others are doing. Since he now has control over both trains, he can do whatever he wants with them, Layton has also surrendered and nobody does anything against Wilford, as it looked in the end. Melanie was last seen in the sixth episode of the second season, but the eighth episode apparently plays before that, which is really confusing. They talk about the fact that there's still 2 hours until they meet Melanie.
At the end of the 6th episode you can see that Melanie is not taken and the train rushes past her without braking. From a chronological point of view, Wilford is then already in command of both trains, which are linked together.
Was that it for Melanie? How else could it go on?
At the moment Wilford is the winner and it doesn't look like that will change. There will be at least two more episodes in the season though, so it can't end like this. I can imagine two things: the first would be that a lot of time will pass until the next season, so that the situation will fundamentally change, or the passengers will recognize the true nature of Wilford. Or something surprising happens that turns things around. Melanie will certainly still play a role, I assume that. She is not dead and can go on for a while. Your daughter is sure to play an important role in bringing Wilson out of power in the end.
