Netflix not available abroad?

As I go on vacation to Asia next week, I downloaded some movies and series for the flight on Netflix. However, I was later told that they will not be available abroad, which then also confirmed with the Netflix support. Since I have downloaded so yes so offline, it should work but funktonieren. I'm NEVER connected to the internet, so how should Netflix know that I'm abroad? Then it would have to go purely theoretical, I'm never connected to the Internet. Have you ever had experience with it?
