Is it possible to make a hidden sword on the forearm that can only be triggered with one hand?

Saw it on the Netflix series Punisher and it's in some video games too. Is it possible to recreate something like that? The only question that arises for me is which mechanism can be used to jump out the knife. So probably spring out, but how could it all trigger? It looks to me as if there's a high probability that you would stab yourself directly in the arteries if it accidentally triggers because triggering with your hand movement does not look safe or therefore not really possible. And then retracting the blade would have to be done manually again.

Here is a scene in which you can see what I mean

This is certainly possible but absolutely forbidden.

By the way, in the linked scene no sword is used but a (also illegal) dagger.

Enter "Hidden Blade" on Youtube.

My pleasure.

Yes, this type of weapon existed before the Punisher. It is best known as the "hidden blade" of the Assassin's Creed games. I've already seen a few YouTube videos of someone recreating something like that. However, I can't tell you exactly how that works.

Apart from the legal situation, it is possible. Switchblades (opening to the front) are nothing new. But ask yourself why it only appears in games and films but has never actually been used: Because it has too many disadvantages.

Ask yourself whether such a weapon would be useful at all. You would have more disadvantages than this fantasy weapon would have any practical use in reality.
