How does Netflix determine whether a series is popular?

I would like to know what netflix determines whether a series is popular (i.e. Whether there will be a second season) or not.

They count how many people watch it

I don't know, but:

How many people watch the series and how long?
How many stop watching the show?
How many are just watching this series or how many is it one of the few series they are watching? That would make the series more important

Do you think that if I watch a series more often, it is more likely that a second season will be produced?
