The Smart TV can be used like a PC. Install your internet browser and off you go.
With SmartTV there are apps in an app store. Apps such as Netflix, YouTube, ARD Mediathek and the like are available there. You should inform yourself beforehand for the exact availability of the individual apps. Depending on the SmartTV, there's also a browser. The video playback might not be optimized there.
In an emergency, you can also connect a laptop or PC to your television and use all the functions of your PC.
