Can you trust the Netflix age recommendations?

I'm currently watching the Netflix series Beastars. Free via Burning Series, however, because Netflix is too expensive for me.
The series is recommended by Netflix from 16. But there are also sexual scenes in the series (I'm currently in episode 3). And sometimes it's very brutal and depressive. So I wonder if you can trust the recommendation. You can't really trust the FSK, how is it here?

Al

The age recommendations on Netflix are the same as always, but for some series the age is far too young or too old. It's best to ask about series and films here. Hope I could help you.

Pa

I also saw the series when I was 16. There will be even worse scenes. If you don't want to see them, just don't watch them.

P.S: The ending is very cute and there are also nice scenes.

an

No, I like that. But I think 16 is something low. 18 would be good.

gr

Stranger Things should be from 12

an

I don't know Stranger Things.

Ja

This is not only the case with Netflix. Finds that the film Lucy deserves an age rating of 16 and not from 12.

an

I don't know Lucy.

Ja

Is a film with Scarlett Johansson. It's pretty brutal for 12. It's not on Netflix as far as I know

Ja

You don't know Stranger Things?! Are you serious? The most successful series on Netflix?

an

OK.

En

And? Because it is successful somewhere, everyone has to see it?

Ja

At least everyone who has Netflix knows this series. Even if you haven't seen them. You have always heard of it.

Be

So.

The voluntary self-regulation of the film industry, FSK for short, always only issues recommendations and never that you have to stick to them. The only one who makes sure that you have to stick to it is our state.
It exists to protect young people from brutal scenes that you might not see at an age. For example, Violence and often normal "ecchi", from FSK 16. But blood, weapons and Co, as well as "hentai" meaning sexual representations, from 18. There's even an exact order from the FSK, which is why there are 16 or so. Netflix mostly takes over the FSK from other countries, mostly the location of the user. Accordingly DE. And it looks like he is here from FSK 16. However, Netflix is not leaning towards voluntary self-regulation, so you can divide the FSK yourself. They are therefore e.g. Not obligatory if titles appear here on DvD etc. And they are classified from 16 also from 16, but they can also be classified from 12 or 18.

Conclusion: Netflix FSK are always controversial and not "checked" by the FSK. You are not always using the country's FSK.

I don't have a Netflix. Seen the series elsewhere for free. But you can still see the age recommendations of Netflix.

Ja

I see. Sorry!
