Do you need a 4k Blurayplayer for a 4k TV?

I'm looking for a Blurayplayer for my 4k Smart TV. I'm a bit overwhelmed with the technical data. I get along well with my Smart TV (Samsung). He has a good picture. Netflix works fine. I just want to like a blurayplayer. I chose this one and do not really know which version I should take from it.

Do I need 2 UHD devices? 2x Wireless Wi-Fi over TV and Player? Could be, but could be too much.

Someone who knows his stuff better than me can surely help me with that?

You do not necessarily need a 4k Bluray player for a 4k TV. Except you want to watch movies (assuming they are in 4k) in 4k

Be

For the playback of 4K BluRays you need a 4K BD player, but they are relatively expensive (well over 100 euro), for normal BluRays is a normal as in your link.

If the TV is a good smart TV, you can take the basic version and do not need the extra features.

Ka

Well, the 4K version of the linked player currently costs just 99 euro…

Ex

The linked player is a normal Bluray player. This plays normal BR discs, so maximum content in Full HD.

In order to use the fourfold resolution of the TV, you would need a UHD Bluray player and naturally also appropriate films on 4K Blurays.

The thing is anyway mostly… The 4K TV sets that have the most at home, the advantage of four times the resolution of the usual diagonals and especially the seat distances do not exploit. The eyes can't absorb the higher resolution and details at, for example, 50 inches and a seat pitch of 2.5 meters. For this to happen, the seat distance would have to be max. 1.5 m or have the picture at least 2m in the diagonal! The whole 4K-Geschwurbel is basically so pure promotional garb, 4K comes in most not at all.

Be

Do you mean the far right in the selection rider?

Ka

Ah, you're right! There's "4k upscaling" - I had skipped that. Is not really a real 4K player: -D

Be

Just wanted to write clear words - but I see you've already noticed your mistake.

Ka

"Clear words" sounds like I was guilty of an offense: -D

Ma

And an HDMI cable supports the 4K.

Ex

They do just about all sold cables, even cheap ones at Real or Marktkauf. The important thing is that high speed is on it. There used to be standard, but they are as good as gone.

Wrong is, as many think, because advertising pretends that you need special 4K cables… This is pure scapegoat and money making. However, even employees in various electronics markets have no idea how to determine again and again.
