What is the Netflix series Itaewon Class (k-drama) about?

Park Saeroyi's life has been turned upside down after he gets expelled from school for punching a bully and his father is killed in an accident. Following his father's steps, he opens a pub named "DanBam" in Itaewon and, along with his manager and staff, strive towards success and reaching greater heights.

Here is the mydramalist entry with reviews (attention, spoiler). Do not be irritated by the good rating, all of the drama that is currently running / recently turned off has good ratings, this will level out over time. Someone who doesn't like that doesn't stay in the regular air until the end.

Overall, I personally found it so-so, but many are enthusiastic.

The first episodes are promising, but in the middle the drama is really long. Somehow they don't really get to the point. I don't like it when a story development seems implausible to me and there's no justification. Sometimes everything gets mixed up, too much plot was put into the series and then the thing between it loses the common thread. The love story in particular is completely incomprehensible to me, too suddenly, little reason, more than if the writers just wanted to have it in there.

But that's always a matter of taste…

What?! The series was extremely exciting. The series keeps its good grade. A very, very good series in my opinion. But if you're not really interested in K-dramas, you're less impressed by the series. The series has a black member with it, which is rarely seen in K-dramas. They also show the dark side of South Korea. In my opinion a great series. The only thing I personally found silly was the relationships between the characters. In my opinion it was too long.

Difficult to express my criticisms without spoiling the plotter's story… Hmm, so more superficial. The composition of the cast is certainly the strength of the series and refreshingly different. That is the attraction of the first episodes. In the course of the series it seemed to me that this was sometimes too wanted, you just notice that this is a Netflix production. Nevertheless, it is nice that critical points are sometimes raised, although not financed by domestic production companies. As I said, the thread in between is missing in the story. The love story in particular is completely incomprehensible to me, too suddenly, little reason, more than if the writers just wanted to have it in there. The whole revenge plot is well laid out at first, but then gets lost in this incomprehensible love story, which is just annoying in the end, and some unnecessary side plots. I liked the Villans at first, but they are becoming more and more the usual drama cliche like some of the other characters, seen a thousand times, is a shame with the innovative original setup. Some scenes are just silly, but good, there's one in every drama that is specific to the genre. I found the end tossed as if the writer had finally wanted to finish it, but had to fill three episodes.

Don't get me wrong, overall I don't find the series terrible, you can watch it, but I don't find it a prank ingenuity. But as I said, something is always a matter of opinion, everyone likes different things.

The ratings at Drama list have already dropped from 8.8 to 8.7 in the past few days, I think this will level off at 8.2-8.5 in the long term. Not a bad overall rating for a drama, that's normal.
