Switch from Windows 10 to Linux?

Does a switch from Windows 10 to Linux Mint 20 make sense?

I have a "Gamer Laptop" and an "Office Pc".

I only play games every now and then, and most of my games run on Linux anyway (officially supported).

World of Tanks is not officially supported under Linux, but you can certainly get it to work with Wine (?) Isn't that so, right?

And the remaining activities are watching Youtube / Netflix, surfing and editing Office documents.

Does a change make sense?

In itself there's little that speaks against it, but if you are an absolute layman I would clearly advise against it, especially if you want to deal with things like wine

Regarding the world of tanks no, I dare to doubt that cradle is not there to play whole games like one should get individual Windows programs running on Linux, but you will not be able to play games well with it if you play gaming I can only recommend the Windows

On an office device, however, you can't do anything better than Linux

Does a change make sense?

Only you can decide…

Just think about what advantages you have with Windows and what advantages you have with Linux. If you don't have any problems with Windows… Why bother?

wi

I wouldn't switch to Linux if I already have a Windows computer. Because the performance hardly changes (depending on the version). Vine can't start every program and many more problems.

However, it's a matter of preference.

I myself use all 3 desktop operating systems MacOS (Hackintosh), Windows 10 (gaming) and Debian 10 (server).

In addition, entire games do not run with one

Al

It depends on the game, but basically I can agree with you. Wine is not intended for games…

Da

Linux is safer… And probably a performer

sw

Yes wot is not exactly small that unfortunately one does not pack if one were that far I would have been with Linux long ago

Al

It's not that much "safer" either… But as I said, you have to decide for yourself. I wouldn't switch.

You can try that out first, it's not like you can't just restore a backup and undo everything.

What is windows

Unix has been known since around 1970. Unfortunately (?) Microsoft did not adopt well-known and still modern principles from Unix starting in 1985 with Windows.

For people who knew Unix, Windows was a step backwards and a culture shock.

Unix is still at home on mainframes, and Linux on the PC with the replica (replica because of the rights and patents).

Anyone who dares to use Linux will first have to forget many things. Some "simply embroidered" people will find similar distributions and window managers to Windows.
But if you want to take advantage of the properties of Linux, you have to go a little deeper. But don't worry, as the son of my parents, who would be around 100 years old by now, I can still do that.

If you only intend to use your PC for games, you should stick with Windows.

But then he will also have to live with the risk of virus infestation.
