Is Flixgrab Legal?

With this tool you can supposedly save videos from Netflix and it also says it would be legal for private use, right? It is clearly emphasized that it is based on the copyright regulations, so I basically see no violation or anything illegal

No, I don't think so, I mean you have to pay something, otherwise it is illegal and I would rather pay 15 euro than 1500 euro as tight pay I do not recommend it to you!

Better take Audials Movie. I also use. Definitely legal. Audials does not violate any DRM or similar programs, I don't know whether this is the case with FlixGrab. What you mean is Section 53 of the Watch Copyright Act.

But Audials costs.

Ta

It would be legal

This is a hotly contested iron.

on the one hand we would have the argument that you paid for a film, so it is yours. On the other hand, it is in fact the case that you have a subscription to netflix. That means you pay monthly to be able to access it. So if you save content, as soon as you end the subscription and do not delete the content immediately, you would theoretically make yourself liable to prosecution.

the only question is how the whole thing should be followed up. That would be like, let's say, the police made a raid in 1985 on someone who bought empty tapes from Saturn or something after going to the video library.

one could assume that he would copy the tapes and then watch the films again and again after they were returned.

So it is not (yet) easy to determine whether someone is saving the films themselves or just watching them.

Thanks for the detailed answer, if I were to use Flixgrab, would it not have any effect on my subscription such as blocking it? I would only use it privately anyway, so it would not constitute an illegal act for Netflix or the police, because it supposedly respects copyrights.

As I already wrote, just proving that is going to be so time-consuming that no one will give it a try.

it's like the warnings for illegal downloads. If you look closely, you will see that the accusation is almost always illegal spreading…

Copying a borrowed dvd or the like was already forbidden back then, but was considered a minor delilkt.

As I said, as long as you can't be accused of passing it on, you don't need to worry.
