About half a year ago my Netflix account was hacked / my password was stolen. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until 3 days ago. Because I was able to continue looking at a friend's account, I was not surprised at the unauthorized direct debits: /
Before my password was stolen, I had an account with Netlflix but did not have a subscription at the time the account was taken over. That was only completed by the fraudster. As a result, in my opinion, the direct debit was unauthorized. On the other hand, I had given Netflix a direct debit mandate earlier when I had taken out a subscription myself.
I have already been able to get the account again and have returned the subscription debits from the last 8 weeks. Now the question arises to me whether there's a possibility to get back the money that was debited earlier or whether I have to pay the tuition? After all, it is almost 100 euro. I'm not at all sure how to proceed now. If someone has ever had experience with something like that, I would be very grateful for advice.
Too late.
"gives back the money that was debited earlier"
No. That's why you have to check your bank statements regularly. Of course you can report that, it just won't bring you your money back
You haven't looked at any bank statements or sales reports on your account for 6 months?
If the eight-week period has expired and a valid direct debit mandate was available, it is too late to object.
Ok anyway thanks.
But of course I saw the debits and looked at the statements on the account. I just didn't realize that I actually had no access to my Netflix account because I had been using my friend's account all the time. Well then I'll have to pay the hardship…
OK thanks for the answer. I will definitely be more careful now with the prints.
Ok thank you for the answer. The apprenticeship then just hurts, but now I know better.
Why are you paying for something that you don't use?
Think of it this way: You didn't mind paying for 6 months. In this respect, you actually didn't suffer any damage. Simply revoke the direct debit and it's good.
Yes, that was my own stupidity. Sounds stupid but I thought the whole time my friend's account that I was using was my own. And yes you are right you have to see it positively, in that sense no harm was done to me, I was just too stupid and sponsored a stranger's account.
Don't see it as stupid, see it as nice. The poor guy might not have been able to afford his own. And we're indulging the company Netflix where it gives us so much pleasure, especially in these gloomy Corona times!
