I know that there's a stick for the tv e.g. Amazon. What you can watch zattoo, netflix etc. With Wi-Fi. Is there such a thing for devices without HD? My old TV is enough for me and I don't want to buy a new one.
You probably mean without HDMI, don't you? Because if it has an HDMI connection, it would probably not matter whether it can HD or not. I have a Ligawo converter on an 82 tube TV in the living room, a Chromecast stick is on the converter. I occasionally watch films via Netflix, youtube videos or other things

If he has HDMI you can plug in a stick instead of the laptop. Only needs an extra power supply, usually with a USB power supply. Or if the TV also has a USB port that you don't need for anything else, a cable from it to the stick is enough
