Netflix black borders?

I have a sony bravia TV but sometimes there are black borders at the top and bottom because the series were recorded in a different format than my TV is. There's a possibility to remove the edges

You could "enlarge", but then the picture is missing, e.g. With stripes above and below, left and right something.

In theory yes. But parts of the picture just fall aside.
