New laptop, pixelated black spots on videos?

I bought a new laptop today, but with videos, whether YouTube, Netflix or anywhere else, black areas in the video are pixelated, which is very annoying. Why is this so and what can you do about it? It can't be that this is "normal", because it was not the case with my old laptop from 2010.

Check graphics card driver and return to seller if necessary
